This guide shows you how to migrate your WooCommerce store to Shopify.

You can move your products, customers, orders and more in only a few steps.

What is migrated

We migrate your store data to Shopify, including:

  • Products
  • Customers
  • Orders
  • Coupons
  • Categories (as collections—see how this works)
  • Product metadata (metafields)
  • Pages and blog posts

Most store data is migrated automatically without manual work, but individual records can require review if Shopify rejects them.

Step 1 — Install the WooCommerce Importer app

Install the WooCommerce Importer Shopify app in your Shopify store.

This app handles the migration automatically.

Step 2 — Create API keys in WooCommerce

To connect your WooCommerce store, you need API keys.

Follow the guide to create WooCommerce API keys.

Step 3 — Connect your WooCommerce store

Open WooCommerce Importer and choose to migrate yourself, get Expert help or use Full migration + design. Nothing is imported until you start.

Connect WooCommerce with its URL, Consumer key and Consumer secret.

Follow the guided checklist to choose your data and description style. You can choose everything, products and categories, customers and orders or the advanced settings for your own selection.

Choose full descriptions, short descriptions or both, using the real-product preview. The other description is saved in the extra field custom.short_description or custom.description.

Then try the free demo with up to 100 products, 50 customers and 50 orders, or start the full migration.

Choosing Everything enables product URL redirects and, in WooCommerce Importer, extra fields. WordPress blog posts are offered when found in WooCommerce. Review these choices in the advanced settings before starting if you need a different scope.

Review existing Shopify data before starting

If Shopify already contains data and no cleanup has completed, choose whether to start clean, overwrite existing products or keep everything and add alongside. Starting clean permanently deletes the selected existing Shopify products, collections, orders and/or customers when you start a migration, including a demo. This can include data that was not imported by the app. Saving the choice deletes nothing and you can change it until you start. Review the selected data and acknowledge the deletion before proceeding. Replacing or deleting products can leave existing order line items unlinked from those products.

If a cleanup has already completed, the guided setup no longer shows Your Shopify data. For example, after cleanup during a test migration, moving to the full migration does not ask this question again or delete data a second time. You can also delete Shopify data separately before migrating. Read the Clean store steps and warnings.

You can test the migration for free with:

  • Up to 100 products
  • Up to 50 customers, orders and coupons

This helps you see how your data will look in Shopify.

Pricing depends on how many products and orders you have. See WooCommerce Importer pricing.

Step 5 — Run the full migration

Once you’re happy with the demo, start the full migration.

The app will import your data into Shopify automatically.

What happens after migration

After the migration:

  • Products are available in Shopify
  • Categories become collections
  • Customer records accepted by Shopify and orders are imported
  • URLs are redirected to keep SEO

You can review everything before going live.

Common questions

Will my data be safe?

Yes. Your data is transferred securely and not modified in WooCommerce.

Can I connect a WooCommerce store with no products?

Yes. WooCommerce Importer can connect and scan a store with an empty product catalog. You can migrate only customers and orders if those are the data you need.

Can I run the migration again?

Yes. You only pay once and re-runs are free. When you start another migration for the same connected store, the app pre-fills the settings you saved last time. When you re-import customers, duplicate email or phone warnings can be expected and do not mean the migration failed. A phone warning can also occur on a first import because Shopify requires phone numbers to be unique across the shop. Learn what these warnings mean and what the migration log does not show.

What if something looks wrong?

You can contact us and we’ll help you fix it.

After the migration

Spot-check the sample before the full migration, then check the full result in Shopify. The sidebar checklist continues through optional syncing, store configuration and launch. Check business details, payments, taxes and duties, shipping, Markets and test checkout. Review DNS TTL, remove the storefront password when ready, back up your old store and run a final manual update before pointing your domain at Shopify. Verify the live store afterward.

Can you run the import for me?

Yes. Expert migration costs US$299 once. We set up the source-store keys, run the import, personally check the result and add theme metafields where needed. It is done within 3 business days. Fixing inconsistent source data is not included.

Do you offer migration with theme setup?

Yes. Full migration + design costs US$1,799 once. It includes everything from Expert migration, a Shopify theme set up to match your old store and a ready-to-sell handover.

How do I buy an assisted migration?

Choose Expert or Full in WooCommerce Importer or PrestaShop Importer. Both are one-time charges on your regular Shopify invoice, with no separate payment details. Keep the return page open until the app confirms the payment. After approval, you will hear from us within one business day. We give a full refund if we cannot complete your migration.

How long is automatic syncing free?

Automatic syncs are included for 60 days from your first completed full migration, including free-tier, paid and fully discounted migrations. Demo migrations do not unlock automatic sync and reruns do not restart the period. Automatic sync is unavailable on development stores. We send a reminder on day 53, seven days before the free period ends. After the free period, you can continue automatic syncing in the app for US$9 per 30 days. Existing longer or unlimited free-sync arrangements remain in place. Manual updates stay free.

Can I migrate on a Shopify development store?

Products and categories migrate free on development stores. Customers and orders unlock once your Shopify store is on a paid plan, and your setup is kept. Expert and Full are visible but cannot be purchased on development stores. Partners can contact us for help.
