Honest comparison
Matrixify alternative for migrating WooCommerce to Shopify
Last updated: August 23, 2026
Matrixify is the power tool of Shopify data management — and if you need a spreadsheet-driven import/export workbench, it’s excellent. But if your actual job is “move my WooCommerce store to Shopify, once, without breaking anything,” you may be paying for (and wrestling with) far more tool than you need.
WooCommerce Importer takes the opposite approach: no source CSV or Excel files to prepare for the core migration. You connect your WooCommerce store, click go, and products, orders, customers, coupons, pages and blog posts transfer directly into Shopify. Product reviews are exported in a file you can import into a Shopify review app, because Shopify stores reviews through third-party apps.
Below is an honest comparison, including the cases where Matrixify is the better choice.
The core difference
Matrixify is a file-based toolkit. You export data from WooCommerce, shape it into Matrixify’s Excel/CSV template, upload it, and run the import. That gives you enormous control — and it also means the migration quality depends on your spreadsheet work.
WooCommerce Importer is connect-and-go for your core store data. Install the app, connect your WooCommerce store, pick what to migrate, and run a free demo migration first — that’s the whole workflow. There are no source export files, column mappings, or import templates to prepare. Images are downloaded and processed by our servers (including converting .avif/.bmp to Shopify-compatible .webp, and re-hosting images embedded in product descriptions), and SEO redirects from your old URLs are created automatically. Reviews are the exception: the app exports those for import into your chosen Shopify review app.
Feature comparison

Price comparison — what a migration actually costs
Prices below were taken from each product’s public pricing page on August 20, 2026: Matrixify pricing and WooCommerce Importer pricing. Matrixify is billed per 30 days; WooCommerce Importer migrations are one-time charges.
Matrixify plans (August 20, 2026): Demo — free, 10 items per file · Basic — $20/30 days, up to 5,000 products / 2,000 customers / 1,000 orders per file · Big — $50/30 days, up to 50,000 products / 20,000 customers / 10,000 orders per file · Enterprise — $200/30 days, unlimited.
WooCommerce Importer pricing (August 20, 2026): One flat one-time price covers the entire migration — products, customers, and orders together. The tier is set by whichever count is highest: free up to 100 products / 50 orders and customers, then from $5, reaching a maximum of $99 for stores above 25,000 items. Re-importing is free, and if your store grows into a higher tier you only pay the difference. No subscription. Full table: WooCommerce Importer pricing.
| Store size | Example | Matrixify | WooCommerce Importer (one-time) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small | ~450 products, ~200 orders | $20 (Basic, 1 × 30 days) | $9 |
| Medium | ~6,000 products, ~9,000 orders | $50 (Big, 1 × 30 days) | $59 |
| Large | ~45,000 products, ~80,000 orders | $50–$200 (Big with order files split into ≤10,000-row chunks, or Enterprise) | $99 |
- For mid-size stores Matrixify’s raw price can be slightly lower — if you finish within one 30-day cycle and build the import spreadsheets yourself. WooCommerce Importer’s price includes the direct connection, server-side image processing, and automatic redirects you’d otherwise do by hand.
- Matrixify’s limits are per file, so a large migration can stay on the $50 plan by splitting files — more manual work, less money.
- If a Matrixify migration drags past 30 days, another cycle bills. WooCommerce Importer is one-time, re-imports are free, and if your store grows into a higher tier you only pay the difference.
When Matrixify is the better choice
- You want a long-term data management tool: recurring exports, scheduled feeds, bulk price updates, metafield editing. That’s Matrixify’s home turf and we don’t compete there.
- You’re migrating from a platform we don’t support — we handle WooCommerce and PrestaShop; Matrixify accepts anything you can get into a spreadsheet.
- You need heavy metafield work during import.
- You (or your agency) are comfortable in Excel and want row-level control over every field.
When WooCommerce Importer is the better choice
- You’re migrating from WooCommerce or PrestaShop and want it done without touching a spreadsheet — connect the store and go.
- You care about images arriving intact — including formats Shopify rejects (
.avif,.bmp) and images embedded inside product descriptions. - You want automatic SEO redirects without building a redirect file.
- You want to test the real thing free first (100 products, 50 orders/customers) instead of a 10-item demo.
- You’d rather pay one flat price capped at $99 than start a subscription for a one-time job.
- You want the option of a fully managed migration — data only, or the entire store including design.
Don’t want to run the migration yourself at all?
This is a category with no Matrixify equivalent — it’s a self-service tool by design. AppsByB offers two managed options (prices verified August 20, 2026):
- Expert migration (data only) — $299: our team runs your complete data migration for you, including WordPress pages and blog posts, with 30 days of post-launch support. Source: the app’s Shopify listing
- Done-for-You migration — $1,799: full site migration including Shopify theme and storefront design setup — we recreate the structure and visual direction of your current storefront, including core page templates, navigation and mobile setup — plus 301 redirects, checks, and a hand-held switch. A new brand identity or fully bespoke theme is a separate, individually scoped design project. Source: storeimporter.com
