Ablestar alternative for migrating WooCommerce to Shopify

Ablestar WooCommerce Importer has been on the Shopify App Store since December 20, 2016 and carries the Built for Shopify badge. It connects to your store with WooCommerce API keys, so there are no spreadsheets to prepare, and it moves products, orders and customers. Of the tools we compare ourselves with, it is the closest to ours.
Our app is also called WooCommerce Importer, which is confusing. On this page "Ablestar" means their app and "WooCommerce Importer" means ours. The differences are in what comes across besides products and orders, how redirects are set up and what the migration costs.
The core difference
Ablestar is a focused importer for products, orders and customers. Its documentation lists those three record types and the fields inside them. Coupons, WordPress pages and blog posts are not on that list. URL redirects are created through a second Ablestar app, Link Manager, which you install during the migration. Products are priced in one set of tiers and orders in another.
WooCommerce Importer covers more of the site in one app. Products, customers, orders, coupons, WordPress pages and blog posts import directly. With the Create URL redirects option enabled, product and category redirects are created during the import. One published price covers products, customers and orders together.

Price comparison
Ablestar's figures come from its pricing page, checked October 13, 2026. Ours come from WooCommerce Importer pricing, checked the same day.
Ablestar charges for products and for orders in separate tiers. Products run from $4.99 for under 50 to $79.99 for 1,000 or more. Orders and customers run from $9.99 for under 100 orders to $149.99 for 10,000 or more. Neither scale goes higher than that, so a very large store pays the same as a merely large one.

Ablestar figures are from its pricing page on October 13, 2026. Ablestar charges for products and for orders separately, so the totals add the two. WooCommerce Importer prices are from WooCommerce Importer pricing and assume your customer count does not put the store in a higher tier. The tier follows whichever of products, customers or orders is highest.
If you only move products, Ablestar's bill stops at $79.99 however large the catalog is. That is still more than our price for most catalogs. A products-only store with 45,000 items pays $99 with us, so that case is the one place where Ablestar comes out $19.01 cheaper.
When Ablestar is the better choice
- Your Shopify store still runs on legacy customer accounts and you want to generate activation links yourself, inside the app. Ablestar has a button for that, where ours are available upon request. This only applies to older stores, because Shopify stopped offering legacy customer accounts to new stores in February 2026.
- You want a spreadsheet that lists every WooCommerce order next to its new Shopify order. Ablestar emails one on request.
- You need orders from an exact date onward. Ablestar takes any date, where we offer a fixed set of ranges.
- You have more than 25,000 products and no orders or customers to move. Ablestar charges $79.99 for that and we charge $99.
When WooCommerce Importer is the better choice
- You need coupons, WordPress pages and blog posts moved along with the catalog.
- You have customers who registered and never ordered, and you want them in Shopify too.
- You want product and category redirects from the same app, without installing a second one.
- You want to test with 100 products and 50 orders before paying, where Ablestar's free allowance is 20 products.
Don’t want to run the migration yourself at all?
Ablestar lists a custom import starting at $49.99 for data that does not map directly to Shopify or needs changes beyond the defaults. It is priced as an add-on to the app, and the page does not describe a service where Ablestar runs the whole migration for you.
We offer two managed options.
- Expert migration (data only), $299. We set up the WooCommerce API keys, run the import, verify the result and add theme metafields where needed so WooCommerce attributes show on the Shopify product page. It is not a data cleanup service. If your source data is inconsistent, fixing it is not part of the $299.

No. They are two apps from two developers with nearly the same name. Ablestar's listing is at apps.shopify.com/woocommerce-importer and ours is at apps.shopify.com/storeimporter.
In the three examples above, WooCommerce Importer: $9 against $69.98 for the small store, $59 against $179.98 for the medium store and $99 against $229.98 for the large one. Ablestar is cheaper only for a catalog above 25,000 products with no orders or customers.
The first 20 products import free. WooCommerce Importer's free tier covers 100 products and 50 orders and customers.
Yes, and they are included in the product import price. They are created through its separate Link Manager app, and Ablestar's instructions cover products and category pages. Installing Link Manager from the importer gives an extended 30-day trial, and the redirects stay in place if you uninstall it afterward.
Both apps re-import without a second charge. Ablestar warns that re-importing all products may create duplicates, and offers an option to import only new products. WooCommerce Importer re-imports are free within the same tier, and a store that grows into a higher tier pays only the difference.
