Is there a free way to migrate from WooCommerce to Shopify?

Yes, in three ways, with limits. Shopify offers a product migration app to eligible stores. You can also map product CSV files yourself. WooCommerce Importer has a permanent free tier for up to 100 products, 50 customers and 50 orders.

Shopify’s own free app

Shopify’s Store Migration app accepts an unedited WooCommerce product CSV. It is in early access, available only to certain stores on desktop. Its WooCommerce route covers products, not customers or orders. Check availability in Shopify’s WooCommerce migration guide.

Plain CSV, and how far it actually gets you

You can import products without paying for a migration app by mapping WooCommerce’s export to Shopify’s CSV format. Customers need a separate CSV. Orders need another route.

The cost is your time. Attributes, variations, categories and image URLs need attention when you reshape the file. Plan to import a small sample, inspect it and fix the mapping before importing the rest. Our WooCommerce CSV guide walks through that work.

Shopify limits each product CSV to 15 MB, so larger exports need splitting. Once a CSV import starts, you cannot cancel it. There is no history of past imports, although Shopify points to the store activity log for reviewing recent changes. See Shopify’s product import documentation.

The three-option ceiling applies to everyone

Shopify supports three native product options. Its migration guide warns that options on products with more than three will not import through its app. Extra choices need a different setup, such as metafields or a product-options app. Decide how to represent them before choosing your migration route. See Shopify’s product-option guidance.

What we do for free

Install WooCommerce Importer and import up to 100 products, 50 customers and 50 orders at no charge. This is a permanent tier, not a time-limited trial. It uses the same migration code as the paid tiers, so you can check how your real data appears in Shopify before paying for a larger migration.

The free tier includes redirects and image imports while your source store keeps serving downloads. Shopify’s validation rules still apply, so individual records can need review. Inspect the imported products, customer records and orders before moving on.

Import time depends on your source host and the data you are moving. Re-imports are free. Run the import, review the result, adjust your settings and run it again. If your store stays within all three free limits, you do not pay us for the migration. Shopify’s own store subscription is separate.

Where the free routes start costing you

Orders are the first gap. A product or customer CSV does not bring across your order history. Matching order line items to the right Shopify variants takes additional work. WooCommerce Importer includes orders within its free limit, and larger histories need a paid tier. Reading your source store is hosting-dependent, so a slow or shared host can make the migration take longer.

Images are the second. If your old host refuses downloads, a CSV import can leave products without photos. WooCommerce Importer can import product images and rehost images inside product descriptions while the source keeps serving downloads. Check the images before turning off your old site. If any are missing, follow our image recovery steps.

Redirects are third. Importing a product CSV does not itself create redirects from your old WooCommerce URLs. WooCommerce Importer creates redirects during migration. Read how migration redirects work and test your important old links before switching domains.

What we charge once you outgrow free

One flat one-time price covers products, customers and orders together. Your price is the lowest tier that covers all three counts. Customer and order counts are checked independently against the same limit.

For example, US$5 covers up to 250 products, 100 customers and 100 orders. US$9 covers up to 500 products, 250 customers and 250 orders. US$15 covers up to 1,000 of each. The tiers go up to US$99 when any count exceeds 25,000.

If your store grows into a higher tier, you pay only the difference. See the full pricing table.

What we do not import

WooCommerce Importer imports simple and variable products. external products come in as simple products. Other product types are skipped, with the log message Skipping product {id} with type {type}.

Grouped products, WooCommerce Subscriptions, bookings and bundles do not come across through WooCommerce Importer. If you rely on these, plan how to rebuild that functionality in Shopify before migrating. A product import alone does not recreate those features.

If you want to compare before committing

If you prefer preparing and transforming data in spreadsheets, read our comparison with a spreadsheet-based migration tool. Compare the supported data, record limits and pricing against your store before choosing a route.
